Overview

The I&C Engineer is responsible for the repair, refurbishment and reverse engineering of various printed circuits boards and power supplies that are directly related to Nuclear Safety. The I&C Engineer will be required to write detailed test procedures / documents for the circuit boards / power supplies as well as the replacement components required for the repair/refurbishment. This will require detailed circuit analysis as well as detailed circuit operation justification to be documented. The Engineer may also be required to participate in troubleshooting in the lab through powering up the printed circuits boards / power supplies and analyzing the operation of the unit through use of Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional testing to generate documentation necessary for technicians to perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide variety of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components.

  • Responsible for the Re-Design or Re-Engineer of obsolete electronics.
  • Create project documentation including acceptance test procedures, design specifications, repair reports, and technical memos for circuit boards and power supplies with/without any technical documentation or specifications.
  • Translate technical aspects and requirements into formal documentation.
  • Read schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Generate equivalency evaluations for comparison of replacement components after repairs/refurbishments.
  • Create Dedication/Qualification paperwork of commercially available components for safety related applications in nuclear utilities.
  • Generate/Work with draftsman to create drawings to replicate electronic devices, including Electrical Schematic, Printed Circuit Board, and Mechanical drawings.
  • Analyze circuitry to be able to determine theory of operation and define operating parameters.
  • Create Design Adequacy test regimens to ensure the Reverse Engineered product meets the required Environmental parameters.
  • Evaluate components for the impact to for form, fit, function and Environmental Qualification requirements.
  • Design/Develop test benches for testing Reverse Engineered products.
  • Perform failure analysis of various components and recommend solutions.
  • Create all design documentation required by ATC Quality Procedures such as: Design Management Pan, Specimen Evaluation Report,  Design Drawings, Design Specification, Acceptance Procedure, Qualification Plan, Qualification Test Report, Equivalency Evaluation Report, and Engineering Change Notice.
  • Use assorted electronics lab test equipment to perform troubleshooting down to the component level.
  • Project Management of Reverse Engineered product throughout life cycle and create and adhere to project schedules and deadlines.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve non-conforming purchase order requirements and materials.
  • Communicate with customers to answer technical questions.
  • Additional related tasks may be assigned by management.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Experience with technical writing required.
  • Stong background in troubleshooting down to the component level required. 
  • Possess good communication and organizational skills working in a team environment.
  • Experience working with a Quality program is a plus.
  • Experience using digital oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, signal generators and assorted test equipment necessary to perform troubleshooting down to the component level is a plus.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting skills down to the component level a plus.
